Robert the Haunted Doll

by SP on October 15th, 2006

Robert “The original “Chucky,” Robert the Doll, has been said to resemble everything from Michael Jackson to Curious George. The East Martello Museum on South Roosevelt Boulevard (next to the airport) is Robert’s permanent home where he sits on display for those who dare to visit.”

Robert’s original home at The Artist House Bed & Breakfast where he lived with his owner Gene Otto and we visit Robert’s annual temporary home at the historic Customs House Museum. Robert was said to have been given to Gene by a Bahamian girl whose exact relation to the family remains one of Robert’s many mysteries.”

So what does Robert actually do?? Well, that would spoil it for you, but one thing that has been reported is that the lion on his lap seems to move from one knee to the other. And then there is a case that I read about where Robert locks the door of a little boy’s room and sits at the end of the bed staring at the child with his expressionless face. It’s the fact that the door was locked that gave me the creeps. The child swore that Robert did it.

“Speculation as to his creation include that the doll contains a crystal or
was made much like a voodoo doll, thereby creating his evil
entity. Whatever his method of creation, Robert is possessed
and his ongoing activities continue to be reported to us.”

Now wouldn’t it be interesting to add your own story! It seems that there is definitely something bizarre about Robert and a lot of visitors are willing to attest to that.

He has such a cute little face, but I passed on a doll that I spotted in an antique store just last week for this very reason!

I’m sure that “Robert the supposedly haunted Doll” is just a rumor. If I had the STUPID doll when I was a kid, I’d burn his sailor suit, then I’d tie him up in as many knots as I possibly can. Then I’d tie him up in that chair. Let’s see if he moves? As far as those peppermints go, I’d put a whole bottle of Hot Sauce on them. What’ll happen next? He’s nothing but a myth & also a legend. Robert can’t do anything to me. I’ll fight back.

I’d like to actually see Robert. I wonder what would happened if you weren’t scared of him….. like if he made pathetic attempts to freak you out.

Excuse me, unbelievers. I went on vacation to palm beach 2 weeks ago and in that time went to Key West to meet up with friends.. We went on a ghost tour the last night and were told about Robert the Doll. I was a little freaked but didnt really believe the story. The next morning before we left for Fort Lauderdale me and my friend went to the house where Robert lived and went to his room. Our chests tightened and we couldnt breathe. Our legs cramped and it hurt to leave his room. Then we went to the museum where he lives now. My friend asked, “Is it alright if she takes your picture?” (we felt stupid for talking to a doll, but trust it was worth it.) The lights in the museum all went out and when they turned back on Robert’s smile went to a frown. We ran away, but decided it was best to apologize. We apologized and he was smiling again. We decided it best to leave it at that. THESE ARE NOT LIES!
Like i said, i did not believe before that. If you dont want to ask him to take his picture, you should anyway because he is surrounded by apology letters of people that took it without his permission.
    Believe it.

I heard the story about Robert the Doll on the radio this morning so I went online to look up some more information. I’m interested in the paranormal, but stuff like this makes me a little skeptical.

At first, reading the comments and stories from people, I didn’t really believe anything. The idea of a doll terrorizing people just doesn’t work with me.

Anyway, about the whole changing of expressions, I didn’t believe that either until I looked Robert the Doll up on Google Images…and they do change!

I know I may sound like a silly girl, but in one picture it looks like he’s smirking, in another he’s frowning and one that really weirded me out, he appears to be grinning with his mouth open as if he’s laughing.

Just look it up for yourself if you don’t believe me.

I’m still a little skeptical, but then again, I’m the kind of person who has to see it to believe it completely.
Just to be on the safe side, I would respect the doll. Haha!
